Short answer

How many revision rounds should a freelance contract include?

Pick a number that fits the offer, define what counts as one round, and say what happens after rounds are used. Extra rounds go through a written change order. Two rounds is a common starting point for many design projects — adapt to your work.

Pick a number that fits the offer

Simple deliverables often need fewer rounds. Open-ended brand work may need more.

For example, two rounds of consolidated feedback after the first presentation. State the number in the SOW.

Do not treat “unlimited revisions” as a default. It hides the real fee.

What counts as a round

One round is one consolidated batch of feedback, then one revision pass.

A new direction after approval is not polish inside a round. It is a change order.

A new approver who restarts feedback is also a scope event. See extra stakeholders.

After rounds are used

Further revisions need a written change order with fee and timeline.

Use how to write a change order and how to price it.

Sample contract line

The fee includes two rounds of revisions. A round is one consolidated feedback batch and one revision pass. Additional rounds require a written change order.
